A Family & Community Tradition

Duck's favorite footrace is a fun family and community tradition open to participants of all ages and abilities. Our event is a non-sanctioned 5K loop, beginning on Scarborough Lane and finishing up with a finish line full of post race festivities!

The Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot Fund: A Permanent Charitable Endowment

Proceeds from the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot are donated to the Outer Banks Community Foundation for the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot Fund. Established in 2013, this permanent charitable endowment and will be invested for growth so its earnings will support nonprofit grants — now and forever — to improve the health and wellness of all Outer Banks people. Decades from now, even if our beloved event is no longer taking place, the Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot Fund will continue to grow and make grants to support causes that matter on Outer Banks. All contributions to the fund will forever remain invested as an endowment, with five percent of the fund awarded in any given year. The remaining principal and earnings are reinvested each year so that the fund can make grants forever.

As is traditional, our first male, female and youth (12 and under) runners in addition to our first walker each get one of our infamous pumpkin pies and our charitable endowment that supports nonprofit grants to improve health and wellness on the Outer Banks benefits from race proceeds.

The Annual ADVICE 5K Turkey Trot is grateful to Road ID for their continued sponsorship and commitment to keeping runners and walkers safe!
